We’ve moved to the Valley Forge Radisson. As always the Gathering of Authors will be held the last weekend in September beginning at noon on Friday the 24th, concluding at noon on Sunday the 26th. This year however, we have moved our gala event to the Radisson Hotel located directly across from the famous Valley Forge National Park. This four-star hotel is approximately two miles from the PA Turnpike exit for Valley Forge and the King of Prussia Mall, and it’s still only about 30 minutes from the Philadelphia airport, depending on traffic. Topics attuned to selling more books. Timely topics of special interest to authors will include, but not limited to: “Getting Media Coverage Where Your Book is News”; “Blogging – a cumbersome quagmire or quick sales connections???”; “Do-it-yourself Cost-effective Book Dedicated Websites”; “At Times Selling a Thousand Books is Easier than Selling Ten” and “Electrifying eBook Sales!!!” We’re introducing a new series of mini-sessions called “Pick the Brain of an Expert” – noted authorities in various aspects of promoting, marketing, distribution, and publishing will be alone on the hot-seat to field questions about his or her area of expertise. Naturally on Sunday morning we will have our infamous “Ask the Experts” panel where our assembled congress of pros individually answer the same question from participants – at times there are several correct variations to solving some problems. On Sunday morning, we will include time for participants to perform a reading or brief presentation about their book. This will be followed by awarding door prizes – this year attendees do not need to be present to win. Leading and trend-setting experts. For openers, our nationally acclaimed presenters include: Dan Poynter is an author of more than 112 books, has been a publisher since 1969 and is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP). He is an internationally known evangelist for books, an ombudsman for authors, an advocate for publishers and the godfather to thousands of successfully published books. Brian Jud is the author of several books, a book-marketing consultant, an advocate for selling books beyond the bookstore, seminar leader, television host, as well as founder and president of Book Marketing Works, LLC. Jeniffer Thompson is the author of Website WOW: How to Turn Your Website into Your Most Powerful Marketing Tool and she is the president of Monkey C Media, a full design house offering web and print design services. Melanie Rigney is the owner of Editor for You, an editing and evaluation service that is proud to count Dan Poynter and many Infinity authors among its more than two hundred clients since the business's inception, more than three years ago. Melanie was the editor of Writer's Digest magazine for five years. Ya’all come. All established and aspiring authors are welcome to participate in the Gathering of Authors where previously published authors, newly published authors and soon to be published authors meet to network and freely share promotional ideas. Egos need to be checked at the door – prima-donnas, zealots, and folks with hidden agendas aren’t befitting at this congenial assembly of authors. This is the longest occurring annual event, totally commercial free, author-friendly, not-for-profit, authors’ conference where the entire focus for the weekend is on helping authors to become more successful with their books – regardless of how or with whom their books are published. We don’t have a head table at meals; thusly attendees are likely to enjoy a meal while chatting informally with one of our expert presenters or keynoters. Books on sale. The books by all authors at the gathering will be for sale at discounts throughout the weekend in the conference bookstore – Infinity will stock the bookstore with the books by our authors attending; however, authors published elsewhere need to provide 6 to 12 copies of their books to take advantage of the bookstore, which will be open to the public. Author-friendly registration fee. Full registration for the 2010 Gathering of Authors is $695 which includes meals, two nights’ lodging at the Radisson, and all conference activities – there are no additional charges for one-on-one consultations with any of the presenters. For local participants not needing a room at the Radisson the registration fee is $465. For attendees sharing a room, the primary author cost is $695 and fee for the second occupant is $445. If you are only able to attend Friday and Saturday or Saturday and Sunday, the day-and-a-half registration fee with one night’s lodging is $575. For day-trippers who can only be with us on Saturday the registration fee is $345. Not included in registrations. Your travel expenses, additional night’s lodging on Thursday or Sunday, the optional Thursday evening dinner with Dan Poynter (see below), purchases in the conference bookstore, the mix-n-mingle cash bar before the evening meals, and the option of having a free-use author photo taken during the gathering by professional photographer Chad Thompson for $90. Your take-away for the photo session is a CD of top quality digital photos to freely use in your book promotional materials and on your website. Timely registrations. When you register on or before August 16, 2010, deduct $50 from the above registration fees. In appreciation of their timely registration, Infinity authors will receive 12 complimentary copies of their books on arrival at the conference. Infinity authors registering after August 16th will receive 6 complimentary copies of their book. The conference registration form is available at www.infinitypublishing.com and www.authorsconference.com. Special Book Publishing Package. Publish your book with Infinity Publishing at the conference discount setup fee of $299 – eBook version included for only $399 – that is valid in conjunction with Full Package registrations, with or without lodging. Gathering attendees who have a book in progress when they register can publish at this prepaid discount price now or when they submit their book before the first day of the 2011 conference. Books submitted by participants before September 9, 2010, will be available as published books or as Advance Reading Copy proof books for the Gathering of Authors. Dinner with Dan Poynter. For early arrivals checking into the Radisson on Thursday evening, September 23rd, there will be an informal dinner with Dan Poynter in a private dining room at the hotel. During the dinner Dan will discuss various aspects of the books written by the authors attending this optional pre-conference event. Cost is $36 – for individuals not registered for the authors’ conference, the cost is $49. Seating is limited to assure time for appropriate remarks about each book, so if you want to enjoy Dinner with Dan, early conference and/or registration is encouraged.
All writers and authors are welcome, no matter how or with whom they’ve published. If you have any questions, feel free to email John Harnish at
or call 877-BUY-BOOK (289-2665). |
